Chairman of the PDP 2023 zoning committee and governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom has said that the zoning committee has decided to throw the ticket open for all presidential aspirants in the party.
The Benue state governor made this known to journalist at the conclusion of the committee’s meeting in Abuja.
“We have resolved that the ticket for the primary elections be thrown open. This will allow those who have bought forms to contest”. He said.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Ortom said, “We have just finished our meeting, after we rose from our meeting last week, today we decided that we would meet and by the Grace of God we have unanimously adopted a position that will be sent to the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our Party that appointed us.
“The good news for our teaming supporters of the PDP and Nigerians is that we have resolved and every one of us, the 37 members unanimously adopted the position that we are going to present to NEC,” he said.
The decision of the zoning committee is coming just in time ahead of the PDP presidential primary elections slated for May 28th, 2022.
Recall that leaders of the PDP from the Southern part of the country have repeatedly called for the presidency to be zoned to the region by the party.
