The Opposition People’s Democratic party PDP, Nasarawa South Senatorial District have vowed to reclaim it’s role of taking over power within the zone and the entire state.

This just as the reconciliation Committee set up by the party has submitted its report geared at reconciling the aggrieved party members who challenged the outcome of the party’s recent congresses in court.

The committee, which was inaugurated by the party zonal leadership, presented its report at the PDP Legacy Secretariat Complex along Jos Road, Lafia.

The report was received by the Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Isa Wakwa, in the presence of key stakeholders from Awe, Doma, Keana, Lafia, and Obi Local Government Areas.

The committee, headed by Brigadier General Phillip Ashim (Rtd.) with others members as Alhaji Ahmad Abdullahi, Hon. Dogara Abdullahi Adi, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba, Hajiya Farida Umar, Arc. Godwin Ose Ashikeni, and Barr. Samuel Amegwa Obeka, who served as secretary was assigned with the responsibility of engaging party members who resorted to legal action against the party.

Speaking at the presentation of the report, Wakwa commended the committee for its dedication to restoring unity, reinvigorating and making the party stronger and ready to take over power in 2027.

“I sincerely appreciate the efforts of this committee, especially for carrying out this assignment without any official funding. This level of commitment to the PDP is commendable, and I pray for divine blessings on everyone who contributed to this effort,” he said.

The committee identified five party members who went to court over the congress results to include senator Mohammed O. Onawo and former senator Suleiman A. Adokwe, Hon. Musa Abdullahi Elayo, Alhaji Adamu Egye Oyanki, and Hon. Jibrin Sabo Keana.

Using what it described as the Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (BATNA) approach, the committee met with the aggrieved members at their Abuja residences, persuading them to embrace an out-of-court settlement for the unity of the party and in the interest of the state.

While presenting the report, Secretary of the committee, Barr. Samuel Amegwa Obeka expressed gratitude to the zonal leadership for entrusting them with the responsibility.

“We engaged all the aggrieved members, presented the legal and political implications of the court case, and encouraged them to embrace dialogue. The PDP Constitution and other legal frameworks guided our discussions, and we are optimistic about a positive resolution,” Obeka stated

Recalled that the crisis arose following the PDP state congress held in November 2024, which saw the emergence of new state party executives under the leadership of Alhaji Adamu Bako Ninga. Dissatisfied with the process, some members approached the High Court in Doma to challenge the outcome, despite the congress being recognized as one of the most peaceful in recent years.

However, Wakwa emphasized that the party was committed to resolving all internal disputes through dialogue and reconciliation
