The Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau, has announced his resignation from office.
The 53, year old Prime Minister is reported to have also announced the suspension of parliament until March, citing political gridlock.
The move TMSnews gathered is to allow the Liberal Party select a new leader and prepare for the electoral challenge ahead.
Having led the Liberals since 2013, Trudeau has faced internal criticism and declining public support.
The report also indicates that the resignation follows a turbulent period, including the departure of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland in December over policy disputes.
It is believed that Trudeau’s exit now shifts the focus to finding an interim leader to guide the party until a permanent replacement is chosen.
