Director General National of the Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman has charged the Muslim ummah to sustain the spiritual gains of Ramadan fasting in their lives, saying that the end of fasting does not mean an end to Ibadah.
Sulaiman gave the admonition in a statement by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri in celebration of the Eid -el-Fitr by Muslims all over the universe.
He cautioned Muslims against reverting to social vices which they abstained from for thirty days during fasting in the month of Ramadan.
While thanking Almighty Allah for sparing the lives of the faithful to see the beginning and the end of holy month, he urged them to celebrate Eid-el- Fitri with high sense of decorum, decency and discipline as well as be their brothers keeper, especially the have- nots.
The Director General prayed for Allah’s protection and mercies for leaders at all levels and asked for God’s intervention to surmount the challenges facing the country.
Muslims across the world celebrated the Eid-el=Fitr on Sunday following the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon on Saturday evening in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and also in Nigeria among other countries.
This marks the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, during which millions of Muslims worldwide observed fasting.
In Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Saturday announced that the crescent moon marking the end of Ramadan has been sighted in the country, confirming that Eid-el-Fitr will be observed on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
“With the sighting of the moon, Sunday, March 30, 2025, will be the 1st of Shawwal 1446 AH, marking the day for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration,” the Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA stated.
He congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and urged them to sustain the virtues of patience, piety, and charity beyond the holy month.
