Benue: Gov Alia approves Construction of Ujima bridge in Konshisha LG

As part of ongoing efforts to spread development across communities in the state, Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has approved the construction of Ujima bridge in Mbayegh/Mbaiker Council Ward in Konshisha Local Government Area (LGA).

The Technical Adviser to the Governor Alia on Infrastructure, Engr. Mlumun Ikpaahindi, who disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in Makurdi said development which has put smiles on the faces of members of the community who had experienced hardships accessing the area over the years.

Ikpaahindi, who hails from the community, appreciated the Governor for the bridge project in her community.

The Adviser said she facilitated the bridge project through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) and it was approved by the governor.

According to her, the contractor has already resumed to site after they were introduced to community members to allow for their smooth operation.

Ikpaahindi said “I want to, on behalf of the entire community heartily thank our Governor for this wonderful dividends of democracy, and also extend our thanks to the State Project Coordinator RAAMP Hon. Stephen Numbeve.”

She commended the Governor for transforming Benue State by opening up rural areas to enhance economic activities adding that the bridge when completed will ease movent of people, goods and services in and around her community.

The Adviser urged the community to protect the workers and logistics as it will be of great benefit to this generation and those to come.

She recalled that RAAMP came into place in Nigeria with the mandate to elicit agricultural marketing using rural road construction as a major component that will ease transportation to the respective markets.

She said the bridge is expected to boost socio-economic activities in the area, known for agricultural produce.
