Newly appointed Commissioner in Benue state, Professor Timothy Ornguga has pledged to support the state Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia in the development of the state.
Ornguga, a Professor of Law, at the Benue State University, BSU, spoke at a celebration in his honour saying he would run an open door policy and justify the confidence reposed in him by the governor and the people of the state.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor for finding him worthy to serve the state in his cabinet while also appreciating God Almighty for making it possible.
Ornguga whose nomination was trailed with petitions said he has put behind him all the controversies urging his supporters to also do same pledging he would be Commissioner for all.
He said “I’m happy for what God has done for me and the good people of Kwande. I promise to do my best and will not disappoint the Governor and my people for this trust.
“On the controversy before my confirmation, I deliberately refused to know those who wrote petitions against me. I logged out of the Facebook throughout that period. I log in after the assembly confirmed me. I’m not against anyone.
“All that is in the pass. I’m commissioner for all. I’m still who I was. I’m still the person I was at the university. The way people knew me at the university is the same way they will also know me in government.
“My supporters should not be angry with anyone. My doors are open to all. Don’t hesitate to come to me if you need my help. I have put everything behind me.”
He urged the Benue people go out enmase to get your voters card to ensure so their eligibility to vote in 2027 elections.
Ornguga who observed that many people thought he was not a politician, urged them to watch and see his political capacity going forward.
