The founder of Vet Konect Ltd, a digital animal health company, Dr. Shadrach Akpem, has expressed commitment to unlocking the vast potential of livestock production in Benue state to ensure livestock farmers achieve success.

Akpem stated this while speaking on the inaugural Benue State Livestock Summit held last month between March 21–22, 2025.

The Summit was organized by his company, Vet Konect Ltd in collaboration with the Poultry Association of Nigeria (PAN) Benue State Chapter, the Association of Private Veterinary Medical Practitioners, and the Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA) Benue State Chapter with support and endorsement from the Benue State Government through the Bureau of Livestock Development and Transboundary Animal Diseases Control.

He said Vet Konect and its partners aimed to position Benue State as a leader in livestock sufficiency, fostering economic growth and sustainability for the state.

He announced that his company , Vet Konect has formalized partnership with Afrimash to provide livestock farmers with premium-quality inputs to enhance productivity.

Dr. Akpen who described the Summit as a pivotal moment for the livestock industry, expressed immense pride that Vet Konect Ltd have played a crucial role in bringing the vision to life.

He noted that the event was a turning point, an awakening to the immense potential of livestock farming and a call to action for all stakeholders to reimagine its future.

According to him, Vet Konect was founded with a clear mission to reimagine animal health care and livestock management through technology, innovation, and collaboration.

“In co-creating the livestock sector challenges like the high cost of inputs, disease outbreaks, lack of access to veterinary services, climate change threatening our livestock, and policy gaps were palpable gaps we all related to. But we did not just see problems; we saw opportunities to create solutions.”

“Nigeria’s livestock sector is at a crossroads. on one hand, we see the growing demand for livestock products and the immense potential for exports and on the other, we face security threats, climate change disruptions, and limited access to critical resources.

“With the creation of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and placed under the able leadership of Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, a new vista of opportunities has been opened for the entire nation in maximizing the unending potential that the livestock sector offers for our shared and collective prosperity as a nation.
