Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, John Christopher, has expressed sadness over the devastating fire incident that ravaged the residential quarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Jos.
In a statement signed by Philip Eplong, the Assistant Chief Information Officer of the Council said the Chairman, who led a delegation of management staff of the Local Government to the scene of the fire disaster, disclosed that the Council was deeply saddened by the news of the incident which has left many homeless and forced others to take refuge at their colleagues residence.
Chairman while appealing for caution and adherence to essential safety measures assured the State Commandant, Dabit Timothy of support to the victims of the incident who lost their valuables in the inferno of his administration’s assistance.
While receiving the Chairman in his office, State Commandant Dabit Timothy, expressed gratitude to the Council for identifying with the Nigerian Correctional Service and called on the government, public spirited individuals, and private organizations to provide aid to fix the quarters and enable the displaced officers to return to their apartments.
The Chairman also visited the Yan Gari market in Katako, where a fire outbreak occurred on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, disrupting socio-economic activities.
Marketers at Yan Gari appreciated the Chairman’s visit and called on the Council, state, and individuals to assist traders who lost valuables in the inferno.
The statement reports that In the two places visited, the Chairman expressed commitment to provide succour to those affected by the fire outbreak.
