CROSSJOF hails Appointment of Journalist as SSA Data Analytics To Governor Otu

Cross River State Journalists Forum (CROSSJOF) Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja chapter has congratulated one of its members, Ebriku John Friday on his recent appointment as the Senior Special Assistant to the governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu.

Recall that the immediate past governor Senator Ben Ayade had appointed Ebriku John Friday as the Special Assistant on Print Media, which he meritoriously served the state in that capacity.

His appointment was contained in a letter dated July 23, 2025 signed by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Prof Anthony Owan-Enoh.

In a statement jointly signed by CROSSJOF chairman, Mrs. Francisca Ogar and the secretary, Raphael Ekpang respectively, Cross Rivers State journalists in Abuja believed that the appointment of Mr. Friday shows that Governor Otu knows what he wants for the state.

CROSSJOF also noted that the appointment of Friday as SSA Data Analytics will help in moving the state forward, considering his track record in journalism and his commitment to duty.

“Your appointment is a result of your exceptional skills, experience, and unwavering commitment to excellence, particularly in data journalism.

“As the leadership of CROSSJOF FCT Chapter which you are a bonafide member until your appointment, we are confident that you will excel in this new role, by leveraging in your informed knowledge of the profession to effectively communicate the Governor’s vision and initiatives to the people of the state as well as the global world.

“Remember that your position is critical in today’s information age, where data analytics significantly influences public discourse and decision-making. Therefore, we urged you to bring your experience to bear in your new role,” the statement said.

Friday, in LEADERSHIP Newspaper moved from the ranks to management cadres, including News Page Design Editor, Deputy Manager, Design Director, Online Editor, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager before he parted ways with the organisation.

And until his appointment he was, the ex-officio of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, FCT Council. He also publishes and edits several online platforms, including TheLeaderNG.com, Jabbama.ng, DailyPatriot.ng) and he also edits the online platform for the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council.
