As a deliberate strategic plan to galvanize, reposition, and invigorate its activities, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had organized a “mind- blowing” workshop for aviation and airports reporters.
The workshop which was conceived in collaboration with Timbuktoo Services Limited and sponsored by FAAN is a specialized programme to equip the journalists, media professionals as well as communications specialist with critical skills to drive activities of FAAN and the entire aviation industry to becoming part of the global best.
According to the lead coordinators of the training programme, Dr. Mike Omeri of TMS and Prof. Anthony A Kila, of the Commonwealth Institute for Advanced and Professional Studies, CIAPs, Lagos, disclosed that the theme for the training, which was carefully chosen, was in line with the vision and reform effort of the leadership of the authority embedded in the renewed agenda of the government.
The training programme, the coordinators added, was to equip journalists, media professionals, and communication specialists with the skills and insights needed to cover the dynamic aviation and airport sectors effectively.
“This CIAPS Airport Workshop, titled “Reporting Aviation and Airports,” is a specialised programme conceived in conjunction with Timbuktu Media and sponsored by FAAN intended to heighten the operational framework of the aviation sector in Nigeria.
Programme schedules of the training indicated that personalities and erudite speakers such as Lekan Otufodunrin, Ebenezer Olusoji Amusan, Pekun Sowole Esq, Emman Udowoima were on hand to speak on topical rudiments of reporting the aviation sector especially, focusing on the FAAN activities and the achievements of The Managing Director, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku.
Mrs. Kuku, who was represented at the programme by the Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Mrs. Obiagelli Orah restated that the workshop was a deliberate strategy to carry the public along through the media and build partnerships for progress and development.
Kuku further emphasized the effect and impact re-training on leadership and experience and that the authority will continue to train its stakeholders in order to ensure value to money through efficiency.
Prof Kila, Director of CIAPS, who expressed gratitude to FAAN that the institute, was chosen to host the workshop, stated that partnerships are key to greater organisational efficiency and thus, the institute will continue to offer its services and facilities to the public in search of societal good.
In his part, Dr. Omeri averted that value driven work ethics are fundamental to character and outcomes, therefore urged participants to take advantage of the gesture from FAAN and up their game. He then commended FAAN and its managers for the ongoing airport reforms that are being introduced across all airports in the country
