Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Solomon Adeola, has expressed satisfaction at the huge success recorded in his free Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB forms initiative for indigent students of the district.

The lawmaker, who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, commended the committee saddled with the educational advancement project for achieving over 4,200 registration for the examination from the targeted 5,000 students, saying that he was optimistic that many of the beneficiaries would ultimately turn out to be successful undergraduates after the examination.

According to a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro and released on Sunday, “the report of the committee submitted to the office of the senator explained that it could not meet up with the target of 5,000 due the closure of JAMB portal on February 24th and numerous internet downtimes experienced while the initiative lasted.”

Odunaro stated that the coordinator of the initiative, Mr. Scholar Ola Agbetokun, detailed the beneficiaries across the five local government areas of Ogun West Senatorial District, namely Ado-Odo Ota, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ipokia and Imeko Afon, adding that the benevolent gesture was equally extended to indigent constituents residing in the two other senatorial districts of the state.

“It is satisfactory for me to achieve these huge numbers of my constituents and others who would have been denied a stepping stone opportunity to get advance tertiary education.

“Education is the best legacy we can give to our people and financial constraints should not stop our youth from good education,” he stated.

The statement also quoted Senator Adeola to have stated that a complementary initiative to his free JAMB form project is the scholarship and bursary scheme for tertiary education students, adding that the second edition targeted to benefit about 5,000 would be implemented in the weeks ahead.
