How SGF tasks Tiv community in Lagos on unity with host community

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume has enjoined the Tiv Community resident in Lagos to leave in peace and unity with their host community.

Sen. Akume stated this during the 2024 Tiv Cultural Fiesta held at the National Stadium in Lagos State .

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Christopher Tarka, the SGF praised the organizers for their efforts in preserving Tiv cultural heritage.

He emphasized the importance of unity among the Tiv people and encouraged them to extend fellowship to others, particularly President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he assured has the interests of the Tiv Community at heart.

Honorees at the event included public figures and philanthropists, all of whom commended the organizers for hosting a vibrant cultural fiesta.

Special Guest of Honour, Senator Dr. Titus Zam, emphasized the need for Tiv unity and support for each other to achieve shared goals.

President of Tiv Community in Lagos State, Hon. Steven Terfa Uzer, called for solidarity and growth among the Tiv people in Lagos, highlighting the strength found in their diversity.

Plans for a communal space for Tiv people called Ayatutu House in Lagos were also shared during the event.

Amid cultural performances and a beauty pageant, the fiesta aimed to celebrate Tiv heritage and engage the community in discussions about their agricultural potential and economic standing in Nigeria.

The event saw the crowning of winners in the beauty pageant, as well as a commitment from community leaders to continue promoting Tiv culture in Lagos.

TMSnews reports that the event, which lasted for two days with the theme “Tiv Heritage: Promoting Unity, Preserving Culture and Traditions,” drew Tiv men and women from various backgrounds to celebrate their cultural roots.
