Hunger Protest: KARU LGA in Nasarawa State imposes curfew

The Executive Chairman of Karu Local Government Council, in Nasarawa State, Mr. James Thomas, has declared a curfew in the area. This, he said, was after “due consideration of the prevailing situation decided to impose the curfew across the LGA from 6 pm to 6 am from August 1, 2024, till further notice.”

In a press release signed by the Senior Special Assistance to the council chairman on Media and Publicity, Comr. Danbaba Uba Magaji and sent to TMS news, the curfew was imposed as a precautionary measure to ensure the full security of Karu LGA and have been endorsed by stakeholders across the local government

According to the release, “the curfew will restrict movement of people, motorcycles popularly known as Okada and Tricycle known as Keke riders, all shops owners, and motorists in Karu LGA.”

The posture of the LGA is a fall out if the wave of hunger and cost of living protests across the country by youths and other Nigerians.
