It is Fraudulent to Collect Pensioners VIN – Nasarawa PDP Tells State Government

The Leadership of Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Nasarawa State has raised alarm that some State government officials are going round collecting Voter’s vin number which is on Permanent Voter’s Card PVC of pensioners in a form designed by the agent’s of government in the state as a condition for the payment of their pension and gratuities.

In a statement shared to newsmen by the Party’s Public Relations Officer, Hon. Mohammed Hamza on monday, the party claimed that it is in receipt of reports to that effect and wondered why that State government would embark on such exercise when it is not INEC and even that, such acts are contrary to the provisions of the electoral Act.

The party said it is worried that having served the state and retired, such category of persons that sacrificed their productive years for the state and nation only need love, care, respect and protection not to be treated to what it described as “inhuman and unconstitutional” conditions.

“It is pertinent to note that Payment of pension and gratuities to retired workers is not a privilege but a right. So for some government officials to begin to initiate partisan politics to the payment is most disheartening.”

He further restated that “the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Nasarawa State wants to use this medium to condenm the act in totality and urge INEC and all relevant security agencies to go after the perpetrators and their sponsors, arrest and prosecute them to serve as deterrent to others.”

Hon. Hamza said the party wishes to advice the pensioners to resist this ugly temptation which is a clear manifestation that enemies of democracy and Nigeria are at work in their desperate attempt to frustrate, manipulate and to disrupt the electoral process in the state for access to power through dubious means” the statement concluded.
