Just in: Many feared injured as Trailer Crashes In Jos

An Articulate vehicle (Trailer truck) conveying cows and human beings has crashed in Jos. Plateau State, Central Nigeria

According to reports reaching TMSNEWS, the road traffic crash occurred at the Secretariat Junction within Jos Metropolis in Plateau State.

In a statement issued by the Corps Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps Maxwell Lede, Sector Commander RS4.1 Plateau, shows no record of death either of the animals or humans but that fouteen people were rescued to hospitals with various degrees of injuries.

The statement added that the truck with registration number NSK523ZY travelling from Adamawa enroute Lagos had 32 people including the driver, Muhammad Mandir Yusuf, crashed in the night of Thursday, 27th, February, 2025, around 11:05 pm.

The accident, the statement further said has affected traffic flow on the outward service lane that connects the secretariat to the express, while the left lane connecting the roundabout under the flyover is partially affected, thereby narrowing the lane.

Lede explained that traffic on that section of the road is obstructed to traffic flow and temporarily closed.

The Corps Commander however said that men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Nigeria Police Force (NPF ) are on the ground managing the traffic situations to avoid secondary crash and traffic gridlock and that efforts are on towards total clearance of the roads.

He said the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertain, but is suspecting high speed or reckless driving.

Meanwhile, the victims have been taken to Plateau Specialist Hospital, Bingham University Teaching Hospital, and JUTH, respectively, for treatment

PLSG, NECO set to boost education through collaboration

Plateau State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ephraim Usman Gar has assured Plateau State officials of the National Examination Council (NECO) of its readiness to collaborate with the body to ensure optimal performance in the education sector in Plateau State.

Speaking when officials of the National Examination Council led by its state coordinator, Donal Adi visited the Ministry, the Commissioner expressed the readiness of the state government to partner the examination body to enhance quality of education in the state.

In a statement by the Information Officer of the Ministry, Edward Bulus Damwesh, the commissioner noted said the Mutfwang administration is committed to fulfilling its campaign promises, adding that the door of its Ministry and the state Government are open for meaningful engagement.

He disclosed that the Ministry and the 17 Local Government Councils will discuss the possibility of assisting indigent students in the National Examination registration.

The commissioner further stated that the Ministry will collaborate with the examination body to train some of its staff for maximum impact and productivity.

Earlier, Plateau State Coordinator of the National Examination Council, Mr. Donald Adi commended the state government for its laudable achievements and stressed that they were in the Ministry to seek collaboration to ensure that the 17 Local Government Councils assist indigent students in the area of examination registration to reduce the hardship of their parents.

He explained that in addition to conducting the Senior Secondary School Examination, the examination body also conducts examination into unity schools nationwide, the Gifted School in Niger State, recruitment examination and training of workers for organizations and government MDAs.

Similarly, the Ministry also received on a courtesy call Plateau State officials of the University of Jos Alumni Association led by its state chairman, Comrade Gad Samaki who commended the Plateau State Government under the leadership of Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang for its interest in some of the challenges facing the university and called for synergy with the Ministry and the 17 Local Government Councils to address some of these challenges, particularly in the areas of water scarcity and payment of school fees for the less privileged students.

Responding, Hon. Ephraim Usman Gar commended them for resuscitating the association and called for its sustenance.

He assured them that the Ministry will liaise with the 17 Local Government Councils to look into some of the issues raised and address them.
