Just in: Traditional ruler abducted in Nasarawa

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers Wednesday night abducted a traditional ruler, the Sangarin Dari, Emmanuel Omanji, at his resident in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The incident according to an eyewitness account occurred around midnight with rendition of sporadic shootings which City Post gathered created panic, apprehension and fear within the community.

Sources told our correspondent that the abductors stormed the residence of the monarch heavily armed and shot sporadically into the air to scare the people as well as prevent a reprisal attempt by the community.as the royal father was said to have been whisked away to unknown destination.

When contacted on the incident, Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ranham Nansel confirmed the the abduction of the royal father.

According to the PPRO, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed have mobilized the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unitwho are in collaboration with the military and vigilante groups to conduct a search for possible rescue of the royal father as well as apprehending the suspected kidnappers.

Nansel, said the CP has assured that the perpetrators would be apprehended and the victim rescued unhurt.

“The CP further called on anyone with useful information that will assist the operation to volunteer same and assured them of utmost confidentiality”
