Kano State will conduct a special environmental sanitation exercise on Christmas Day.
Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Environment, Mr Sanusi Kofarnaisa, quoted the Chairman of the Kano State Task Force Committee on Sanitation, Dr Kabiru Getso, as saying this on Friday.
Getso said the exercise would not restrict vehicular movement, however.
“The exercise will be conducted by the committee, sanitation staff of the environment ministry as well as a private company.
“We thereby enjoin people to ensure the cleaning their environment as well as observe body and environmental hygiene to safeguard themselves and their neighbours,’’ he said.
Kofarnaisa also stated that the monthly environmental sanitation inspection for markets, workplaces and motor parks would be conducted on Friday Dec. 31.
The committee called on residents to uphold COVID-19 safety protocols and ensure the use of facemasks and social distancing all the time.
