The Nasarawa state opposition people’s Democratic Party, (PDP) Monday declared that the much noise makers currently championing the ADC coalition in the state are no longer heavyweights and not in anyway a threat to the party.
They also stated that some of those iivolved in the coalition arrangements have both lost their political strength since 2023 during the presidential and gubernatorial elections.
The party in a statement signed by the pits public Relations Officer, Secretary to the state chairman of the party, Alh.Hamza Ibrahim, and made available to Journalists in Lafia, noted that at 70s, those fronting the party especially in Nasasarawa have nothing to offer as such cannot form a stumbling block as far as elections are concern.
“At the ages of 70s to 80s, most of them have since exhausted their individual and collective political relevance. We therefore, challenge the media to conduct a popularity search on them from their respective polling units, wards and even LGA to attest to this well known fact.
“We made bold to ask them to publish the results of their individual polling units, ward and LGAs for public scrutiny. For instance, it’s on INEC’s archive that a former Minister got just 7 votes delivered to Alhaji Atiku Abukakar in the 2023 presidential election that he was a high ranking member of his campaign”, the statement added.
“A former senator couldn’t deliver both his polling unit and ward. In a district in Karu LGA, a serving minister lost woefuly”, the statement declared.
It added however that the PDP’s magnimitty and respect for elders which had continue to accommodate their excesses and anti party even when they dragged the party to court should not be misconstrued for weakness.
“They lost even at the Appeal Court leading their shameless exit from the umbrella. For the avoidance of the doubt, we are not losing any sleep over their exit. Instead, our members are celebrating their exit.
“We call on the Nasarawa people in general and our teaming supporters in particular to remain unperturbed as the party is harvesting more new members into her stocks.
We, therefore, refer the public to the thunderous vote of confidence passed on the PDP leadership in Nasarawa state and indeed, the various Zones, LGAs with an outright rejection of ADC Coalition on arrival.
