- Orders to pay N5 million into interest yielding account

A former federal Lawmaker from Nasarawa State, Dr Joseph Haruna Kigbo has failed to secure an appeal field at the supreme court sitting in Abuja after having his case thrown out in Lafia High court and the appeal court in makurdi
Recalled that the defendant had earlier lost out at the high court sitting in Lafia as well as in the Makurdi division of the appeal court in Benue state.
When the case came up, the supreme court in it’s rulling upheld the earlier judgements delivered by the Lafia High court and that of the appeal court
The judgement followed the illegal arrest and detention of one Dr Akelo and Danjuma Polycarp for violation of their fundamental human Rights.
The duos, who are staff of the Nasarawa State Hospital management Board and state primary Healthcare Department Agency were approached for help in the execution of a world Bank project in Bauchi.
According to the evidences made available to the court, Dr Kigbo failed to implement the project in line with the agreement entered into in relation to their working conditions including provision of accomodations and othe entitlements agreed on.
As a result of Dt Joseph Haruna Kigbo failure to implement the agreement entered into, the plaintiffs withdrew their services and returned to their original places of work in Lafia.
Following the return of the two persons engaged, Dr Kigbo reported the matter to the police in Bauchi which resulted in the arrest and detention of the two men for four days without being charge to court.
Meanwhile, dissatisfied with the judgement of the Lafia High court where Dr Kigbo was dragged to by complainants, the appellant, Dr Kigbo appealed the judgement of the Lafia High court in the Makurdi Division of the appeal court where the appeal was dissimissed and a cost of N200, 000 awarded in favour of the plaintiffs
The appellant again proceeded to the supreme court where he field amotion in January, 2024, but failed to file his brief of argument untill February 2025.
When the matter came up last week at the supreme court , the case was struck out for failure to complying with subsisting judgements of the Lafia High court and that of the Makurdi Division of the appeal court.
Efforts to get his reaction on the judgements proved abortive as he could not respond to calls or text messages sent to him by our correspondent
