practicing journalists in Nasarawa State will on Sunday, August 24, 2025, converge at the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) Gloryland, Shendam Road, Lafia, for a special thanksgiving service.
The event, which is organized by media workers worshiping at ERCC Gloryland Lafia, in conjunction with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council, is aimed at offering praises to God for His mercies and faithfulness in sustaining media practitioners in the State over the years.
Speaking ahead of the programme, Chairman of the NUJ in Nasarawa State, Comrade Salihu Alkali, called on all journalists and media workers to attend the service in their numbers, stressing the need to collectively appreciate God for preserving their lives despite the risks associated with the profession.
“Journalism is a noble calling but often comes with hazards such as harassment, intimidation, accidents while on assignment, and even health challenges that arise from the stress of the job. In spite of all these, God has kept us, and it is only proper that we gather to return thanks to Him,” Comrade Alkali stated.
He further appealed to the general public to continue to pray for journalists, noting that the media plays a vital role in informing, educating, and shaping the society for the common good of all citizens.
The thanksgiving service is expected to draw members of the mass media, stakeholders, families, and friends of journalists across the State, and is scheduled to commence by 7:30am.
