Mischief at the Crossroads
As the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) approaches its National Convention 2025, the stage is not only set for renewal but also for betrayal. A silent ambush has been brewing in the shadows, orchestrated by actors who wear PDP’s colors in public yet dine with the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in private.
After securing key National Working Committee (NWC) positions in ADC by proxy, these elements still maintain a grip on PDP structures. They are neither here nor there—politically mischievous, sitting on the fence, and plotting to fracture PDP at the oddest hour.
The Proxy Strategy
Their game plan is cynical but calculated. They exploit PDP’s platform to negotiate power and offices, while keeping ADC as a fallback. When they succeed in bargaining within PDP, they remain under the umbrella. But when they fail, they quickly decamp into ADC, claiming the status of a formidable faction.
This is not politics of ideology. It is politics of sabotage. It is the deliberate weakening of PDP from within.
Fence-Sitters as Saboteurs
While some politicians have openly declared for ADC, these dual-loyalty actors hide behind PDP’s banner to stage-manage conventions and committees. Their presence contaminates the genuine struggle for party revival. Their deceit is a fortress built on lies, designed to extract concessions at the expense of PDP’s unity.
A Call to Stakeholders
The 2025 PDP Convention must be a turning point. Stakeholders should:
Scrutinize NEC and NWC members with ADC ties.
Expose dual-party indulgence as disloyalty.
Demand loyalty oaths and structural reforms that shut out opportunism.
The umbrella cannot provide cover for those who secretly carry scissors to tear it apart.
Conclusion
The future of PDP is not threatened by APC or LP as much as it is by saboteurs within. Unless PDP cleans house, ADC’s ambush will fracture the party from its foundation. The convention in 2025 is not just about electing leaders—it is about choosing survival over sabotage.
