The Chairman of North Central Development Commission (NCDC), Barr. Cosmos Akighir, has pledged that the commission would prioritize interventions in health care, education, agriculture, infrastructure development and security.
Barr Akighir who stated this during a thanksgiving service in his honour held at the NKST church in Buruku Local Government Area of the state, said the ongoing construction of River Buruku Bridge in Benue state is a deliberate effort by the Federal Government to expand the scope of economic activities in the area and Benue State.
He stated that the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu is committed to the economic growth of not just Benue State, but the North Central region as a whole and called on all Nigerians to support his administration.
The NCDC chairman who pledged that the NCDC under his leadership would intervene in key sectors of the economy to empower the people and ease their hardship.
He said pledged to modernize the river bank and make it a hub for travellers and other economic activities to boost the livelihoods of Buruku residents.
He added that the commission would work with the Ministry of Water Resources to develop a comprehensive programme to attract tourists, generate revenue and open up the community and the region to more businesses.
Akighir, also pledged to ensure the provision of linking roads as well as the electrification of rural communities in the LGA to make life easier for the people.
The NCDC Chairman also appreciated the church for the prayers, and thanked the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume for the privilege given to him to serve in the commission.
He urged the people to support the President as he strives to make life better for all Nigerians and the SGF to enable him perform well, saying their support will help the president achieve his second term bid.
Akighir, who had earlier attended another thanksgiving service in NKST Daudu in Guma LGA, organized by Alhaji Stephen Tsav, the member representing North Central on the Governing Board of the North-East Development Commission, with the support of his team, donated the sum of N22.2 million for the development of the church.
