NECO debunks owing 72,138 Examiners engaged as ad-hoc staff in the 2024

By Ahmed Salako in Minna

National Examinations Council (NECO) has debunked claims that the Council has not paid allowances of the 72,138 Examiners engaged as ad-hoc staff in the 2024 school-based Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

Statement signed by the Acting Director, Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, NECO headquarters along Minna-Bida road said the Council actually commenced payment of the Examiners on the 4th of October, 2024.

The statement traced what could have happened that prompted the inability of some of the examiners to receive their payments possibly to the Banks which invariably created the confusion.

“NECO has completed the payment of all the examiners allowances as at today Wednesday 13th November, 2024 in accordance with the payment plan of the Council”.

“It was also discovered in the process that some Examiners submitted incorrect bank details, which the Council has reconciled with the affected examiners”.

The Acting Director further explained that, out of the 24 banks being used for the payment, Azeez said all the banks have been cleared.

It is therefore incorrect and false as being speculated in the social media that the Council has deliberately refused to pay Examiners engaged in the conduct of the 2024 SSCE Internal, the statement further emphasized.

The Management advice that any person(s) engaged by the Council should seek clarifications/explanation from it, on matters oblivious to them before resorting to going to the Media.

NECO wishes to reassure its esteemed Examiners and other ad-hoc Staff that the Council cherishes their invaluable contributions to the effective conduct of its examination and will therefore not take issues of their renumerations for granted.
