Nasarawa State Governor, . Abdullahi Sule Thursday received National Unity Torch from the National Sports Commission (NSC) ahead of the National Sports Festival slated to commence may 16th in Ogun state
Speaking during the brief reception of the touch in Lafia, Governor Sule applauded the team for bringing a message of peace and unity.
The governor said that the country needs peace and unity most at this time and promised to support any initiative geared toward ensuring peace.
Sule added that the state would present athletes to sporting events that it has a comparative advantage to enable them to showcase their talents to the world.
Earlier, Mrs Ikana Mbora, Team lead from the commission thanked the state government for a befitting reception accorded them and promised adequate security during the programme.
She added that the festival tagged the ‘Gateway Games,”‘ would be an exhilarating experience and would feature a wide range of sports, including football, volleyball, and basketball.
She further said that thousands of athletes from various states would be participating in various sporting events to showcase their talents to the world
