The Federal Capital Territory Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT CPWB) has concluded a comprehensive screening exercise for more than 250 intending pilgrims preparing for the 2025 holy pilgrimage to Israel.
Held in Abuja on July 29, 2025, the exercise aimed to ensure that all participants meet the spiritual, health, and administrative standards necessary for a meaningful and smooth pilgrimage.
According to the Director of FCT CPWB, Gloria Dandam, the screening process plays a vital role in verifying pilgrims’ eligibility and promoting discipline, moral integrity, and unity. “The screening is to ascertain the health status of intending pilgrims, their documents, and also includes faith-based assessments,” she stated.
Dandam appreciated the continued support of the Minister of the FCT, Barr. Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for fostering an environment that supports and promotes pilgrimage activities in the territory.
Representing the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, Mr. Femi Adetunji, Head of Special Duties, highlighted the deep spiritual significance of the journey. He encouraged intending pilgrims to uphold Nigeria’s image by respecting the norms and values of the host nation.
Some of the pilgrims, including Mrs. Elizabeth Babatunde and Mr. Steven Agbo, shared their expectations, expressing eagerness for a life-changing spiritual experience. “This pilgrimage will transform us spiritually and reinforce our conviction,” they said. “What we’ve read in the scriptures will come alive before our eyes and strengthen our faith.”
The FCT CPWB, in collaboration with the NCPC, reaffirmed its commitment to providing a seamless and spiritually impactful pilgrimage experience for all participants who successfully complete the screening.
