As the political atmosphere in Rivers State gains added vibes creating a momentum into the national soace, concerned groups are forming alliances for an against the gladiators, with a group known as Arewa Youths For Peaceful Coexistence, a group from Northern Nigeria, accusing the leader of the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF) Chief Edwin Clerk of fuelling crisis in the Rivers State.
Reacting to this another group known as the Consortium of South- South and Mineral Extractive Communities Farmers, has described as unwarranted and reckless that a “Faceless and recalcitrant group” is displaying “long throat” in the matter questioning there existence and warning them to desist forthwith from what it further described as interloping, meddlesomeness and interfering in the internal affairs of South South and the Niger Delta.
A press release issued to Journalist and signed by it Chief Co-ordinator, Chief Premier Bello, said that the South South and the Niger Delta which their National leader Chief Edwin Clerk presides over, have its internal conflict resolution mechanism to deal with what they called “self induced and exaggerated family quarrel and differences in Rivers State Political arena”.
“Our leaders are working tirelessly behind the scene to see to the end of this face off between two brothers who truly mean well for Rivers State.”
The Niger Delta group, however reminded the”Northern Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence” that the North already has more than enough challenges ranging from heightened insecurity- terrorism (Boko Haram), banditry, kidnapping, religious bigotry, fanaticism, cattle rustling, pogrom, abject poverty, disease, bad leadership and monumental corruption to deal with than engaging or making derogatory remarks on Chief Edwin Clark, asking the group to desist in meddling in what does not concern them.
