Screening: Halt This Executive Rascality – PDP Cautions Assembly

In fulfilment of constitutional provisions, the 16 Commissioner Nominees of Gov Abdullahi Alhaji Sule are expected to appear before the 7th Nasarawa State House Assembly for screening.

However, the news of their high degree of insubordination exhibited by some of the nominees amongst them, former Commissioners and Government Appointees who arrogantly refused
to appear before the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, NSHA Committee to defend their ministry’s Budget Performance is a major reference point.

A statement by the Press Secretary to the Nasarawa State PDP Chairman Jonathan Ipaa observed that some of them also failed to honour the house invitation to appear before it’s plenary under the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau.

Mr. Ipaa recalled that House Speaker Danladi Jatau had earlier warned that “throughout my tenure, the House would not permit anyone to erode its integrity nor undermine the power of the House”.
With this in the mind of the public, the PDP is amazed that Gov Abdullahi Sule is bent on recycling these failed elements in his cabinet.

Now that some of the said Commissioners who blatantly refused to appear before the Assembly Committee and Plenary Session, are before the same Speaker Jatau, we expect the NSHA to do the needful by exercising her full powers of checks and balances as contains in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The PDP expects that the characters of some of these notorious nominees for appointments by the Executive would be put under scrutiny.

As people representatives, it’s high time the Assembly restores discipline in the governance of public affairs.
We implore the assembly to halt this executive rascality and undemocratic orthodox style of recycling unproductive politicians into public office.

Consequently, we call on the 7th Assembly to check the over cost estimation of ongoing projects in the state by the Gov Sule.

The Assembly Members must investigate selective implementation of the Minimum Wage, especially with the open fact that the state government now receives almost double its former Federal Allocation.

The ongoing 419 payments chart adopted by the State Government should be set aside adbinitio.
We urge the house to step up efforts in giving Nasarawa state electorates the desired hope in sustaining our cherished democracy.
