Following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will begin on August 25, 2025, and will run for one year ahead of the 2026 elections, the registration will take place both online and at designated physical centers across the country.

Stakeholders in Chiroma/Adogi electoral ward have been encouraged to come out in their numbers to register so that they can vote the candidates of their choice in future elections in the area so as not to be left out in the scheme of things in the State and country.

The encouragement was given by a stalwart of the People’s Democratic Party( PDP) Hajiya Farida Umar at the Adogi civil centre, a suburb of Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, said the opening of the INEC portal has opened up an opportunity for those who do not have their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) , people who turned 18 years, others who are relocating to the area and those who’s cards were damaged or missing to take advantage to register so that can be fully integrated into the political system to elect leaders of their choice
.
” My first mission is awareness about PVC, the INEC said they have opened their portal now, so I am here to tell them that everyone should go and get their PVC because without there PVC they will not have the right to vote , If you want any candidate, if you want to support any candidate to win, then you have to get your PVC” she told the mammoth crowd.

According to her, Adogi electoral ward is always a game changer when it comes to the politics of Lafia Local Government Area and indeed the State , the reason for her visit is to tell them not to lower their guard by not taking advantage of the new registration avenue to further swell their political ranks.

Farida Umar an indigene of Adogi, is the Director General of Aspiration Grassroots Mobilization Alliance (AGMA) a nationwide grassroots political movement with members in all 774 Local Government Areas of Nigeria, said she decided to visit her home town as part of her responsibility to politically integrate her people to the political mainstream in the State and country.

” You know politics is local, there is no how, there is no way you play your politics without going to the grassroots, I just decided to go to the grassroot and bring the PDP together, people thought PDP were are in crisis, I am here just to unite us again and tell us that PDP is the same PDP that they know, we should not go anywhere, we should stand firm and ensure that we come together make sure we work and fight together to restore PDP back and that was my message ” she said.

The message which seems to be well received, was greeted with speeches from different political stakeholders in the political wards , local government and the state, supporting the efforts of Farida Umar in bringing good tidings to her people, they encouraged residents of the area to fully participate in the voters registration so as to get their PVCs and vote for the PDP in future elections.

Speaking to journalist, the chairman of PDP in Adogi electoral ward, Mr Yakubu Audu, PDP, said they came all out to receive their hardworking daughter, who was in Adogi to encourage the party’s faithful in Chiroma/Adogi electoral wards to participate in the INEC voters registration exercise and also dispel the rumours from some quarters that she has left the PDP for ADC, as she is still intact in the party.

While encouraging the electorates, Audu urged the people of Chiroma/Adogi electoral ward and Nasarawa State as a whole, that PDP is the party that is fully rooted with the people, as the party that has robust plans for rural dwellers, he said that the State will in the next political cycle be governed by the PDP .

On her part, Hajiya Safiya Ibrahim, PDP women leader of Lafia Local Government Area, encourage the women that Hajiya Farida is a good leader, having come here to encourage all the women of PDP in Chiroma/Adogi electoral ward to remain steadfast with PDP because PDP is the party of the grassroot, said that both APC and ADC do not have the structures that PDP have.

She however, encourage both women and men in Adogi to stay in PDP because by 2027, PDP will govern Nasarawa State, adding that what Hajiya Farida has done today in Adogi ward, the State and and National leadership of the party should reward her.

Responding to questions from journalist if she vying for any political position, the Lafia born politician said she has no such intentions for now , but said she recently contested for national position in the party but lost out due to zoning that did not favour her, wishing that she will be favoured by the party and stakeholders when it the turn of her zone.

“There is no ADC anywhere, it is PDP all the way, you don’t need to run away from challenges, you have to fight and win, i am not that kind of person that moves am the kind of person that if there problems we stay inside and fight it and make sure we bring it to possiblity, so that is why I am in PDP, I am in PDP and not moving to ADC there is no ADC anywhere is PDP all the way” she retorted.
