Desperation has become part of the schedule of outgoing governor of Nasarawa state, Engr Abdullahi Alhaji Sule.
From the onset, Engr Sule has proved that his desperation has no ending. In 2023, he threatened state/LGA pensioneers to queue behind him before getting their monthly stipens.
Sule had made Senior Directors and Permenant Secretaries his campaign managers, while the civil servants were made APC agents in operation deliver your ward or else.
Still not satisfied, faced with the possible outcome of electoral loss, the ex Dangote sugar manager, again coerced traditional rulers: Emirs and Chiefs as campaign megaphones to cajole their subjects to vote him for a second term or risk
dethronement.
In spite of all these moves, Gov Sule still lost woefully at the March 18th, 2023 Governorship poll to a former two term House of Representatives member, Dr David Emmanuel Ombugadu. Instead of being a democrat to accept defeat, he mounted pressure on INEC to declare him the winner instead of those whom the people voted for insisting that he should go to court. Indeed,
Dr Ombugadu of the PDP had since dragged Sule and INEC to court.
Consequently, the tribunal ruled against him while he won under questionable circumstances at the Appeal Court on technical grounds, without presenting any option to facts and evidence before their Lordships.
As the two parties get set for the final ruling at the Supreme Court any day soon, Gov Sule’s deperate moves have resurfaced again.
Sule hurriedly rushed to buy a former senator to decamp into his party this weekend to boost his profile.
On the last week of December 2023, Gov Sule struck once again. This time, he lured the Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency Sen. Kashim Shetima to commission a local government project at Luvo, Masaka, in Karu LGA.
The Masaka-Luvu 3.5kilometre poorly and hurriedly executed road ordinarily should have been a project to be commissioned by the chairman of Karu LGA or any of the local champions.
But out of desperation, Gov Sule hijacked its commissioning just to show the world his performance indix after four wasteful years as the Chief Executive Officer of Nasarawa state.
Only God knows how much Gov Sule must have expended on such desperate political investment, thus being the hallmark of his later days.
