Progressive Igbos in t he United Kingdom( UK) has disowned the statement credited to one group they described as faceless parading themselves as “Ogbako Ndi Igbo UK.
A statement by the Secretary of the progressive Igbos, Ikechukwu Ileoha, declared that the said Ogbako Ndi Igbo group is unknown to them in Ndi Igbo UK explaining further that, the acclaimed group have never been part of any Igbo activities or engagements in UK.
“The so-called spokesman, based in Manchester, already has a reputation for mischief, so it is no surprise he would front such a baseless petition.
“The truth is, Ndi Igbo in the UK have verifiable socio-cultural bodies who have consistently represented the interests of the progressive and genuine Igbos in the diaspora in areas of culture, education and community development”, the statement stated.
“These are authentic groups people know and can point to. We are not aware of one faceless association that suddenly surfaces just to issue press releases”.
“Several Igbo groups in the diaspora have worked with Hon Abike Dabiri and are ever full of gratitude for her tireless efforts in the last six years”, the statement declared.
According to the progressive Igbo group, NIDO Africa and NIDO Europe chairpersons have only recently passed a strong vote of confidence in her leadership.
“They, did not only expressed their continued trust but are already planning to specially honour her for her remarkable service to Nigerians in the diaspora.
“These are genuine diaspora platforms with membership and structure, not ‘phantom groups trading in sensationalism.
“So, it is important that Nigerians at home and in the diaspora do not get carried away by concocted stories designed to distract the Desapora Chairman from the real work she is doing.
“Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa will continue to enjoy the confidence of Ndi Igbo who actually know her and work with her, and no amount of blackmail, noise -making will erase that truth”, the group secretary stated.
