Shock and outrage have continued to trail an incident in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where a seven-year-old girl sustained severe injuries in her private part after being subjected to inhumane treatment by her brother’s wife.
The suspect, identified as Suwaira Ibrahim, allegedly burnt the child’s private part with a hot spoon after her own child accused the victim of witchcraft.
Community members expressed dismay at the incident, describing it as a gross violation of the child’s rights.
Advocates for children’s protection have called on authorities to ensure justice is served and to intensify awareness campaigns against harmful traditional beliefs that endanger minors.
