Damaturu, April 26, 2025 (NAN) The Yobe First Movement (YFM) has donated palliatives to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Yobe State Branch, for onward distribution to orphans in the state.
Malam Sadiq Muhammad, the Coordinator of YFM, made this known on Saturday in Damaturu while handing over the items to the leadership of the union.
“We are here today to distribute palliatives to orphans through the NURTW, Yobe State Branch.
“Thank God that we have successfully handed over 400 pieces of women wrappers and 100 pieces of men’s clothing, including transportation allowances to and from their respective local government areas,” he said.
Receiving the items, Alhaji Goni Karomi, the State Chairman of NURTW, expressed gratitude to YFM for the gesture.
Karomi said the union would ensure the materials reach the orphans left behind by members who lost their lives in the line of duty.
He stressed the importance of assisting orphans, noting that “whoever assists orphans will be abundantly rewarded by Allah.”
The chairman disclosed that the union has about 30,000 members, and that accidents often claim the lives of many members while some become incapacitated.
He appealed to government agencies, non-governmental organisations, philanthropists, and individuals to emulate the gesture by supporting the welfare of orphans and vulnerable members of the society.
Karomi explained that the beneficiaries were drawn from across the 17 local government areas of the state. (NAN) www.nannews.ng
