Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Silas Agara, has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the organization to support President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking during board meeting, Agara highlighted the Directorate’s 30th job skills initiative, which he regards as a significant step towards empowering unemployed Nigerian youth.

Agarah revealed that as of October 21, the NDE has launched an online registration portal aimed at engaging 900,000 Nigerian youths in specialized skill development programs.

This initiative, set to run until October 28 is to promote, enhanced access to training opportunities for young Nigerians, and aims to stimulate job creation in various sectors.

Recognizing the vital role of media in this initiative, Agara called on all the media outlets to assist in spreading awareness about this empowering opportunity.

He urged journalists to use their platforms to enlighten Nigerian youth about the registration portal, emphasizing its potential to transform the lives of many unemployed individuals across the nation.

The programme he said, is designed to select a minimum of ten participants from each electoral ward, reflecting an inclusive approach that ensures broad geographical representation.

Agara underscored that the selection process will maintain fairness and transparency, with notifications for eligible participants to be issued between October 29 and November 4.

“We are committed to giving equal rights and opportunities regardless of geographical zones,” he stated reassuringly.

To uphold the integrity of the initiative, Agara urged the implementation committee to remain diligent and ensure the credibility of the selection process.

Emphasizing the reputation of the NDE as a pacesetter and known for excellence in service delivery, he said, “We must maintain the trust and confidence placed in us by President Tinubu.

We expect nothing less than the highest standards of due diligence in this program.”

To ensure a streamlined application process, one of the key requirements for prospective applicants is the National Identification Number (NIN). Agara explained that requiring the NIN is crucial in preventing duplicate applications and ensuring that the program benefits as many youths as possible.

“As Nigeria continues to grapple with high unemployment rates, especially among its youth, initiatives such as the NDE’s skills development programme are essential for fostering economic growth and sustainability.

“By equipping young people with necessary skills, this initiative not only aims to mitigate unemployment but also to enhance the country’s overall productivity”, the DG stated
