Over 100 passengers including the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur escaped airborne disaster when the Max of the Aircraft boarded enroute abuja burst into flames 10 minutes after take off from the Maiduguri International Airport.

The incident which occured at about 7pm Wednesday caused pandemonium for residents even as the pilot and the crew on board enroute Abuja managed to make an emergency landing at the airport.

A source within the aviation system confirmed the incident to Journalists Thursday morning, even as he said, the management of the airline had mobilised an alternative plane from Kano which conveyed some of the shocked passengers including the Deputy Governor to Abuja safely.

He said that ” soon after take off, the Max Aircraft got hit by a bird in the sky, which led to one of the engines bursting into flames “.

The source hinted that after the emergency landing, most of the passengers retreated and took their luggages back home, even as the airport authority assured them that another plane was on its way from Kano to air lift them to their destination.

TMSnews gathered that the affected Aircraft is still undergoing serious repair at the Maiduguri as investigation by aviation engineers is still ongoing to ascertain the worthiness of the craft.
