BREAKING: Pandemonium At Plateau Assembly as Security Men Fire Teargas at Protesters

There was pandemonium at the premises of the Plateau state House of Assembly on Monday morning after the impeached Speaker Ayuba Abok and his group gained access into the assembly having been barred last week. Abok had on Thursday held plenary at a Community Hall in Zawan, Jos South local government area. At the siting he suspended six members who allegedly spearheaded his impeachment.

It would be recalled that on Thursday last week, 8 out of the 24 members of the assembly were reported to have impeached Honorable Abok, an action the impeached speaker likened to a coup.

Hell was let lose on Monday morning when some youths besieged the assembly in solidarity with the embattled speaker.

An eyewitness who craved anonymity told TMS News that security forces attached to the complex opened fire, shooting teargas to disperse the youths.

“The youths in their numbers were actually on ground chanting solidarity with Abok, saying that he is their speaker and should be reinstated when the security began to fire teargas.” He said.
