Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, yesterday joined other members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at the 99th NEC meeting to deliberate on crucial matters affecting the party ahead of its forthcoming National Convention.

The high-level meeting, held at the Legacy House in Maitama, Abuja, was attended by some of the founding fathers and other prominent stakeholders of the party.

The gathering according to a statement by Dr Gyang Bere, Director of media and public Affairs to the plateau state governor was critical in taking far-reaching decisions aimed at ensuring the continued unity, strength, and relevance of the PDP on Nigeria’s political landscape.

In his remarks, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, commended PDP Governors for their steadfast commitment and resilience in making the NEC meeting a reality despite various challenges.

The meeting culminated in the adoption of a communiqué signed by Amb. Damagum, which ratified key decisions regarding the upcoming National Convention.

According to the communiqué: “Pursuant to the provisions of the PDP Constitution, NEC received and ratified the composition of the Committee on the National Convention and approved the conduct of the National Convention from Thursday, August 28 to Saturday, August 30, 2025.”

“The NEC also ratified the composition of the Zoning Committee for national party offices. The Zoning Committee is chaired by Governor Douye Diri, with Governor Dauda Lawal as Vice Chairman and Governor Caleb Mutfwang as Secretary.

“Similarly, the National Convention Planning Committee was approved, with Governor Ahmadu Fintiri as Chairman, Governor Ademola Adeleke as Vice Chairman, and Governor Peter Mbah as Secretary.

“NEC also acknowledged the resolution of the South East Zonal Executive regarding the position of the National Secretary of the party. It resolved to consider the resolution at the next NEC meeting scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.

Reaffirming its commitment to national development, the communiqué concluded: “NEC reassures Nigerians that the PDP remains strong, resilient, united, and more determined than ever to lead the charge in rescuing our nation from the vicious grip of the APC.”
