The outstanding representation in the Senate by senator Simon Lalong has earned him the Senate Press Corps recognition award
This is because the Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Lalong has distinguished himself in the area of quality representation earning him
the award for Most Responsive Representation within the first year of the 10th Senate.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser Media Dr Makut Macham said the award was presented to the Senator during its 2024 Annual Award of Excellence held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja.
While presenting the award to Senator Lalong who was represented by his Legislative Aide Hon. Nandom Exodus Pennyap, the Chairman Senate Press Corps said Senator Lalong was recognised for his active participation in the Senate despite being one of the last Senators to be sworn in.
He said as former Speaker, former Governor and DG of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign, Senator Lalong brought in enormous experience and political clout which has become an asset for responsive representation of his Constituency, Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
The Press Corps acknowledged the sponsorship of critical bills by Senator Lalong which include the Bill to alter the 1999 Constitution, the Bill on Role of Traditional Institutions as well as the Creation of Entrepreneurship Hubs in the country among others.
His Chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Institutions and Colleges as well as Deputy Chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters among other committees was also recognised for the award.
Apart from his impactful contributions on the floor of the Senate, his stabilising role in critical decisions of the Senate was also considered by the Press Corps.
Responding on behalf of Senator Lalong, his Legislative Aide Hon. Exodus Pennyap expressed appreciation of the distinguished Senator for the recognition by Senate Press Corps.
He said Senator Lalong is passionate about the welfare and development of his people which has pushed him to deliver quality and responsive representation in the delivery of dividends of democracy.
The Legislative Aide cited many projects such as rural electrification, schools construction, renovation and upgrade of health facilities, provision of water, job opportunities, food palliatives and other empowerment materials for the people of his Constituency.
He said the award will spur him to do more and continue to serve the people of Plateau South Senatorial District, Plateau State and Nigeria at large.
