Journalist joins race for local government chairmanship in Nasarawa

A veteran journalist, Danjuma Joseph, has pick up a nomination form and expression of interest to contest the chairmanship seat of Obi Local Government area Nasarawa State, under the platform of the rulling All Progressives Congress (APC)

Danjuma Joseph made his decision to contest the position known during a meeting of Correspondent Chapel meeting of NUJ in Lafia, Thursday.

The veteran Journalist who has spent greater part of his life working in both print and electronic media, is to slug it out with candidates from other political parties in the forthcoming council polls in the state.

‘By the grace of God and support I received from people who asked me to contest, I want to officially inform you my constituency of my decision to contest for the position of Executive Chairman, Obi Local Government in the forthcoming local government elections in the state” he said

“I am contesting to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and to respond to the demands of my people by bringing dividends of democracy closer to the people” he said.

According to him, his motivation is to strengthen the party at the grassroots level and respond to the growing demands of people, who have urged him to serve them in this capacity.

Joseph, who said he has been participating in politics since 1993, over 30 years ago, assured that he has gathered the requisite political experience to lead Obi local government area to the promised land.

It was gathered that Obi local local government have a zoning arrangement on ground where Obi 2 (Jenkwe Development Area) just completed its turn, so it is now the turn of Obi 1, consisting of 5 electoral wards to produce the next chairman.

It was further gathered that it is now the turn of Agwatashi or Adudu ward to produce the next chairman, based on the zoning arrangement on ground, since Daddere, Obi and Tudun Adabu/Kwashir electoral wards had took their shots.
