Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, has warned citizens of the state against actions capable of dividing the state.
This is even as he has appreciated stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kokona LGA for sustaining and maintaining the existing zoning formula for chairmanship position in the area saying that it would continue to promote unity and peace among the people.
The Speaker stated this while addressing stakeholders of APC, party candidates and their supporters in Kokona at his residence in Lafia after they submitted Nomination and Expression of Interest forms of Consensus APC chairmanship candidate for Kokona LG, Mr Agbawu Bitrus Ekpeji to APC Secretariat.
According to the Lawmaker who called on the entire citizens of the State not to engage in acts capable of truncating the forthcoming local government elections also stressed that they should not undermine the existing peace and unity being enjoy in the State.
The Speaker, who represents Kokona West constituency, said history would not forget the APC stakeholders for maintaining zoning formula in the area.
” I am happy that Kokona Local Government Area is the first to submit it consensus chairmanship candidate and 11 councillorship candidates forms, we thank God for that. I want to appreciate the Stakeholders for maintaining power sharing in Kokona LGA as this was started during the late Abaga Toni.
” As we were known of power sharing. I want to appreciate you for maintaining it. What you have done shows our sincerity and commitment for peace and united Kokona LGA”, the lawmaker stressed.
The Speaker congratulated Agbawu for emerging consensus APC candidate for the chairmanship position.
Speaker Jatau, while alling on all those who contested for chairmanship and councillorship positions and could not make it to support the consensus candidates for the victory of the party, assured that they would go to every nocks and cranny of the local government area to campaign for all APC candidates.
Besides, he advised the people of the area and the State at large against religious and ethnic politics stressing the need for citizens to be patriotic in their conduct and not to allow the election tear them apart in any line.
The Speaker commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his developmental strides in the state, particularly in Kokona LGA in terms of roads, infrastructure, education among others.
He called on the people of the area and the state at large to continue to support Gov Abdullahi Sule to succeed.
Also speaking, Dr John Mamman, Commissioner for Education said that the visit to the Speaker was to appreciate him for ensuring that zoning formula was sustained in the local government area.
” We are here to pay homage and to inform you that we have submitted to the party our concensus chairmanship and 11 Councillorship aspirants forms.
” We are here to say thank you for the role you have played in sustaining zoning formula in Kokona LGA” he said.
He also appreciated the stakeholders for remain united to produce the consensus chairmanship candidate.
” By God’s grace, we will sustain power sharing in Kokona Local Government Area” he said.
Mamman, a former APC Chairman in the State also appreciated Gov. Sule for his efforts in developing Kokona LGA and the state at large.
The Education Commissioner called on the people of the area to continue to embrace peace and remain united for the overall development of the area.
” We need to unite and we need to continue to live together as unity is key to success and development” he said.
Responding, Mr Agbawu Bitrus Ekpeji, the Consensus APC chairmanship candidate appreciated the Speaker and other stakeholders for the support and best wishes.
” We will work together to take Kokona LGA to the next level of development.
” I will do my best to ensure the development of Kokona LGA” he said.
He outlined his blue prints to include grassroot development, education, health and agriculture among others.
The APC chairmanship candidate assured the Speaker and others of his loyalty at all times.
He called on the people of the area to continue to pray and rally round Gov. Sule and Speaker Jatau to succeed.
