Nasarawa Government Lauds Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for addressing Housing deficit

Nasarawa State Government has lauded the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for its efforts at addressing the housing deficit in the country.

Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe gave the commendation while playing host to the ministry’s Director of Public Building and Housing, Architect Solomon Labafilo who led a delegation to his office today.

Dr. Emmanuel Akabe apart from appreciating the Minister of Works and Housing for choosing Nasarawa State for the pioneer housing project, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the initiative aimed at bridging the nation’s housing gaps.

According to the Deputy Governor, Nasarawa state is determined to develop the housing sector, saying the sector is one of the areas Government is investing in hence, the collaboration with the Federal Mortgage Bank for the construction of additional housing units for civil servants in Kwandare, Lafia North Development Area.

Dr. Akabe appealed to the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to ensure the second phase of the Akurba Housing units are completed in record time, assuring of government’s readiness to provide land for such kind of interventions, just as he made a case for the federal government to take over the Lafia-Kwandare-Keffi- Abuja road which was started by the immediate past administration.

Leader of the delegation, Architect Solomon Labafilo informed the deputy governor that they were in Lafia to inaugurate the completed 76 housing units of the five hundred Federal Housing Scheme in Akurba, being the first in the country to be inaugurated among the six thousand housing units spread across the federation.

The Federal Director of Building and Housing affirmed the resolve of the federal ministry of works and housing to ensure equality of states in the provision of housing accomodation for citizens.
