NASS Oversights National Lottery Trust Fund- Interfaces with ES and Management

 

The of the National Assembly committee on intergovernmental Affairs which oversees the interNational Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) today undertook an oversight visit to the Fund. The committee led by its Chairman, Hon. Chukwugozie Canice Moore Nwachukwu was received by the Executive Secretary Comrade Tosin Adeyanju at the Fund’s office in Maitama, Abuja.

The chairman disclosed that the committee aimed to engage with NLTF, assess its activities, and offer legislative assistance to possibly overcome any challenges faced by the organization.

 

Nwachukwu stated that, “Our visit is to interface with NLTF, understand its successes, problems, and activities, and provide support where needed for the betterment of the country.” He noted that this was the committee’s first visit to NLTF and expressed their eagerness to support the work of the agency noting its crucial complimentary role in governance and societal affairs.

 

While welcoming the members, the Executive Secretary of the NLTF Comrade Tosin Adeyanju commended the lawmakers on their first visit to the fund, praising their legislative contributions to the advancement of country in general.

He highlighted NLTF’s mandate to include multi- sectoral support for good causes, particularly in health, education, environment, sports, water, disaster relief, and humanitarian activities, stating that a total of 78 projects have been implemented by the Fund nationwide and they wish to improve on this by introducing life initiatives and models in the coming days across the country.

 

Adeyanju, who praised President Bola Tinubu for his efforts towards alleviating poverty in Nigeria, urged the federal government to utilize the NLTF to reach vulnerable Nigerians, ro whom he has assured of equitable distribution of interventions programmes. He expressed willingness to partner with the lawmakers and corporate Nigeria as well all critical stakeholders to achieve NLTF’s mandate.

 

Commenting separately, the Hon. members commended NLTF’s renewed vision which is ” capable of restoring hope to the people,” and pledged their support. Hon. Ime Okon, Deputy Committee Chairman, said, “We are impressed with NLTF’s work and commit to supporting their initiatives.”

 

The visit marked a significant step in fostering collaboration between NLTF and the House Committee on Inter-governmental Affairs, aimed at promoting national development through the pursuit of good causes.

 

Other members of the visiting team included Hon. Esosa Iyane, Hon. Ibe Okwara, Hon. Agbodike Pascal, and Hon. Alex Ikwechegh. Others included Committee Clerk Aimila Kehinde, with Deputy Clerk Aduku Mercy.
