New SWAN to host Week, Visits Nasarawa FA Chairman

The Chairman Sport writers Association of Nigeria, (SWAN) Nasarawa State Chapter, Smah George, have felicitated with the chairman of Nasarawa State Football Association, Alhaji Salisu Usman Galadima on the promotion of Nasarawa United to the elite division and FC Basira to the Nigeria National League (NNL) under his watch just months in office.

 

The SWAN chairman expressed the courtesies during visit to the FA chairman which took place at the conference hall of the Nasarawa State football Association, at the Lafia Township Stadium, Lafia, the state capital.

The visit which was the first outing of SWAN under the current leadership of Mr Smah George, who is about a week old in office, is to strengthen already existing bond between the two bodies, and besides, that, the FA chairman is also a member of SWAN bring the first time in the state that a sport writer is helmsman of the FA urging accelerated harnessing of grassroot talents for football.

 

The SWAN chairman added that the sport writing frantanity are seeking robust partnership with the FA chairman in the areas of training and retraining of sport Journalist on the current development in football in particular and other sports generally, using his influence in order to give sport writers more visibility in other sport associations in the State to partner for effective and informed reporting of all sporting activities in Nasarawa state.

The SWAN board expressed interest in partnering with the FA for the upcoming SWAN week, seeking to leverage the FA’s expertise to promote their activities. Additionally, they requested a partnership with the supporters club to amplify their reach. SWAN members also discussed the need for jerseys, organizing clinics in covering a range of sporting events beyond football, and seeking the FA Chairman’s assistance in these areas.

In his response, the Chairman of the Nasarawa State Football Association, Alhaji Salisu Usman Galadima, warmly welcomed the SWAN members and congratulated the new SWAN Chairman and his executive on their election victory. He appreciated the congratulatory messages on the promotion of Nasarawa United and FC Basira, acknowledging they both share passion for football development.

Galadima pledged support for SWAN week, which was part of the itineraries the leadership penciled to achieve, promising to distribute the promised jerseys and extend SWAN’s efforts to local FAs in the state.

On her part, the Secretary of the Nasarawa State Football Association, Blessing David, also congratulated the new SWAN Chairman whom had worked closely with the FA for years, on his victory, marking a new chapter in their partnership.
