OPSH commander commends residents over relative peace in Plateau

Maj.-Gen Ibrahim Ali, the Commander, Special Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, maintaining peace in Plateau and environs, has commended residents of the state over the relative peace currently being enjoyed in the state.

Ali, who doubles as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, made the commendation at the closing ceremony of a Gwash Ball tournament on Saturday in Jos.

The tournament, which brought young people from different communities organised by the inventors of the game held at Rikkos community of Jos North Local Government Area of the state in collaboration with OPSH.

Ali attributed the current relative peace in the state to the efforts and commitment of the security agencies with the support and collaboration of the citizens.

The commander however called on the residents to be deliberate toward sustaining the peace in the state.

“We have achieved relative peace in the state and this is a result of the frantic efforts and commitment of all security agencies and the support of all you.

“Peace and security is everyone’s responsibility, and we must continue to collaborate toward achieving lasting peace and social cohesion.

“You have been worthy ambassdors of peace in your various communities. I therefore,  urge you to continue to champion unity, peace and security in Plateau and Nigeria in general,” he said.

On the tournament, the commander said it would no doubt promote cohesion, love and togetherness in the communities.

He pledged that OPSH would continue to support initiatives that are aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence in the state and beyond.

Ali called on the youths to desist from crimes and criminality, and urged them to engage in meaningful ventures that would lead to the progress and growth of the society.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the Gwash Ball Peace and Unity Championship was held at T-sion play ground, Rikkos.
