Communities in Benue state have declarrd Mourning session for the Loss of 11 Family Members Killed in Suspected Herders Attack

Recalled that a devastating attack by suspected herdsmen in Edikwu Ankpali, Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, has left families in mourning of the 11 of their own who were killed during the Hororfic attack that was unleashed on the people.

The attack, tmsnews gathered occurred on Sunday evening, resulted in over 25 deaths and uncertain number of abductions.

Eye Witnesses who described the terrifying moment carried out without alleged security presence, raising concerns about the State’s escalating insecurity in the area said the situation has not only call for national attention but more serious security measures put in place.

Edikwu community, located not too far from Ugbokpo, the Apa Local Government Area headquarters, is now deserted and scarred by the high level of devastation arising from the assault.

One member of the bereaved family, Ben Ekahwho was so devastated could hardly express his grief while laying to rest 11 of his family members killed by the suspected herders.

“We are laying to rest 11 family members today, including fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters.This is the darkest day for our family and community. Many are hospitalized, and others have fled in fear.”

As the family buried their loved ones, they were left with unanswered questions and a plea for justice. even as the Benue State Police Command is alleged to have not commented on the attack, leaving residents questioning when help will arrive.
