Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State Implores Allah’s guidance and support on the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen. Farouk Yahaya [DSS psc(+) ndc (Chile) CM FCM BA (Hons) MIAD] as he takes over this important job at this time when the country is grappling with disturbing security challenges.
The Governor stated this in his congratulatory message on behalf of the Government and good people of Sokoto state, to Gen Farouk Yahaya Sifawa, who hails from Sokoto state. According to Governor Tambuwal, Gen. Farouk have been an exemplary ambassador of the state at the national level and globally. He further disclosed that this is the first time that a citizen of the state will ascend the enviable position of a Chief of Army Staff in the annals of the Nigerian Army.
Tambuwal on behalf of the State extended his gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for finding their son worthy of this onerous national assignment.
Gen Farouk Yahaya Sifawa was appointed the new Chief of Army Staff on Wednesday 27th May 28, 2021 by President Buhari following the death of Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, the former COAS who was involved in a plane crash last weekend in Kaduna.
