Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un. It is with deep sorrow that I received the news of the passing of my former principal and mentor, Late Senator Colonel Muhammad Mana (Rtd), who died on Friday evening in Abuja, while I was away in Nairob- Kenya. His death is not only a painful loss to me and his immediate family, but also to Adamawa State, Plateau State where he once served as Military Administrator and indeed Nigeria at large.
A quintessential and professional military officer, the late Senator Mana was a distinguished public servant, elder statesman and fatherly figure who devoted his life to service with dignity and integrity. He served as Military Administrator of Plateau State from 1993 to 1996, leaving behind visible footprints of development. Later, as Senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District from 2007 to 2011, he distinguished himself as a bridge-builder and patriot.
On a personal note, I was privileged to serve as his Aide-de-Camp (ADC) during his time as Military Administrator, an experience that allowed me to closely witness his discipline, humility, wisdom and remarkable leadership. He was a role model whose guidance and fatherly care shaped the lives of many who worked with him. His passing has created a painful void at a time when his wisdom and counsel are still greatly needed in our nation’s pursuit of peace, unity and progress.
I pray that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings, accepts his noble deeds and grants him eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus. May Allah also comfort his family, friends and grant us the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Ameen Ya Rabbil Alameen.
