Nasarawa United outshine Stars dominated Pillars, as Anas scoring spree continues

The clinical finish from the right angle in the 40th minutes of the first half by Ana’s Yusuf the reigning goal champion in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, gave Nasarawa United the much needed win against their regional rivals Kano Pillars on Sunday 27th October at the Lafia City Stadium.

The Lafia fixture witness a massive number of fans across all walks of life who throng to the stadium to watch the star studded game that featured former Super Eagles Captain Ahmad Musa, Super Eagles player Shehu Abdullahi and Rabiu Ali the oldest player in the league playing for Kano Pillars.

The home team enjoyed the full support of there fans as the new invitees to the Chan Eagles camp Anas Yusuf, his other teammates whom were also invited by Coach Eguevon,, goalkeeper Galadima Muhammad and defender Victor Collins were all celebrated during the match.

Anas who is leading the Npfl 2024 goal chat with 8 goals before the encounter made the headline again as he scored the only goal of the game to take his tally to 9 goals in 9 matches, with his securing a 3 points, sitting at 8 position condeming Kano Pillars to the 12th position.

Speaking after the game. Nasarawa United head coach, Mr Kabiru Doga, said his team is young and energetic improving with each game is ready to take on any opponents home and away, he praised the Nigeria Football Federation for finding three of his players worthy of National call ups .

“Kudos to NFF atlest they are doing things on merrit even the appointment of national coaches and those in the flying Eagles are selected on merit, I think we have to appreciate them, expecially coach Eguevon , so I have to appreciate him for giving us such an aportunity an I believe that we are going to make good use of it very well and I believe that with time Nasarawa United will produce players for the national team both at the senior team and junior team just a matter of time” he said.

He however dedicated the victory against Kano Pillars to the fans and the massive support of Governor Abdullahi Sule whom he described be as “the best governor in Sport”, the Sunday victory has made the Lafia base team richer by the sum of One Million Naira(N1,000,000.00) as promised Commissioner for the Ministry of Youth and Sport Hon. Jafaru Ango, should the team beat the four-time former league champions,the incentive was to boost the morale of the players in the high-profile league clash.

The next game for United will be next weekend against Rangers in Enugu.
