A new Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG. Dankombo Morris, has assumed duty as the 44th AIG incharge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, Benue State
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen and signed by Zonal Police Public Relations Officer Zone 4, Makurdi, ASP Ayo Oluwaseun Martins, for the Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
The new AIG has therefore, encouraged the citizens of Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States to uphold the law and continue to provide the Zone with timely and accurate information to facilitate prompt and decisive action against all forms of crime and criminality.
The statement described AIG Dankombo as a highly experienced police officer, who have served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities nationwide. His contributions to internal security and police reforms have been significant.
Dankombo is a native of Kaltungo Local Government Area, of Gombe State, and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in History from the University of Maiduguri and a Master’s degree in International Relations. He joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and has consistently advanced through the ranks due to his dedication and exceptional service.
The statement read “AIG Dankombo is a distinguished and accomplished senior police officer within the Nigeria Police Force, whose career is characterized by professionalism, discipline, and outstanding leadership.
“AIG Dankombo has participated in numerous tactical, operational, and strategic leadership courses including Combat/Operational Course (Mobile Training Camp, Gwoza), Citizenship and Leadership Course (Sheri Hills, Jos, Plateau State), Advanced Detective Course (Police Staff College 2001), Central Planning and Training Unit (CPTU, PSC Jos 2001), Community Policing Developer Course (PSC, Jos, 2005), Crime Fighting Stimulation Training Exercise (Armed Forces Stimulation Center, Jaji, 2014), Strategic Leadership and Command Course (PSC Jos, 2017).
“He has held several command positions and undertaken numerous responsibilities throughout his distinguished career, including Patrol and Guard, Admin Officer, and Divisional Crime Officer in Bali Local Government Area, Taraba State (1995-1997), Chief Superintendent of Police Administration (CSP A, Bauchi Command), Divisional Police Officer in Bali, Taraba State; Hadejia, Jigawa State; Gamboru Ngala, Borno State; and Owerri West Division, Imo State (2013-2018).
Other positions are “Directing Staff (PSC, Jos), Area Commander, Birni Gwari, Kaduna, and Rano, Kano State (2018-2019), Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration and Operations, Yola, Adamawa State.” He also served as the Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State Police Command (2024-2026), a position he held until his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.
Assistant Inspector-General of Police Dankombo currently holds the position of AIG in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters in Makurdi, which encompasses Benue, Nasarawa, and Plateau States.
