The Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has commenced the assembly of 525 customized motorcycles as part of its youths Hire Purchase scheme, an initiative aimed at creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for young people while boosting commercial activities across Benue State.

The Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Makurdi, on Friday saying the customized motorcycles form part of the company’s deliberate strategy to support Benue youths through its expanding hire-purchase and empowerment scheme.

The GMD said the motorcycles represent the first phase of the 10,000 units expected from China, which Governor Hyacinth Alia attracted to the state during his visit to the Asian country in 2024.

Asemakaha noted that part of the agreement includes the training of Benue youths by the Chinese company in Software Development Kit (SDK), motorcycle assembly, adding that the project is designed to reduce unemployment, promote self-reliance, and deepen economic participation among residents.

According to him, the latest batch of motorcycles represents a significant scale-up of the programme, which has already benefited several youths in previous phases.

He noted that the scheme is expected to further expand access to income-generating opportunities, especially in the transportation sector where many young people depend on commercial motorcycle operations for survival.

Asemakaha commended Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, for creating an enabling environment for BIPC to thrive and deliver impactful economic initiatives adding that state government’s support has continued to strengthen the company’s drive toward job creation and industrial growth.

According to him, the motorcycle assembly project is expected to reinforce BIPC’s ongoing efforts to position itself as a key driver of economic empowerment, youth development, and internally generated revenue growth in Benue State.
