Breaking: Dep Gov enjoins Maiduguri residents to remain indoors following midnight multiple explosions [+VIDEOS]

Following multiple explosions that caused panic amongst residents of Maiduguri metropolis, the Deputy Governor of BORNO state, Dr. Umar Usman Kadafur has called for caution and patience as the explosions were a result of a fire incident that erupted at an Armoury of Giwa Barracks, contrary to reports of Boko Haram attacks. He ENJOINED all and sundry to remain indoors, as security operatives are on top of the situation.*

 

Meanwhile, a statement by the Nigeria police Borno State Command released to press by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the Police Public Relations Officer
has reacted to the incident, which it attributed to friendly fire. The statement said, “Following reports received of explosions heard in Maiduguri, preliminary investigations indicated that the detonation originated from a friendly-fire incident at Giwa Barracks armoury.”

ASP Daso further explained in the statement that “no enemy attack was recorded, and the security situation remains firmly under control.”

He assured that security forces, EOD experts, and the fire service were at the scene working to extinguish the resulting blaze restating the call on members of the public to remain calm, as the situation is under control disclosing that further details and updates will be provided as more information becomes available as he provided the following emergency numbers for the public to please report any suspicious movements or activities.
